NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Lafourche Parish deputies say a man was found dead in his car after shooting six people, killing three.

Deputies say Ben Freeman, 38, was found dead in his vehicle off of Highway 90.  Last night, he’s believed to have gone on a shooting spree. Lafourche Parish Councilman Louis Phillip Gouaux was among those hurt.  Gouaux is being treated at a hospital.

The Lafourche Sheriff’s Office confirms that the dead include Gouaux’s wife, Susan, as well an administrator at Ochsner St. Anne Hospital, Milton Bourgeois.  Freeman’s wife, Denise, is the third confirmed fatality.  The cause of her death is currently unknown.

Deputies have also learned that Freeman is a former son-in-law of  Councilman Gouaux, having formerly been married to their daughter Jeanne.

WGNO has several crews at the scenes of the shootings, and a crew en route to where the suspect’s body was found.  Stay with WGNO over the air and online for the latest.
