(from the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office) – Members of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Dive Team have recovered what they believe to be the body of a missing Slidell-area mother.

A vehicle matching the description of the one Crystal Friedman was driving was located shortly after noon today in an Oak Harbor waterway near Slidell.

Dive team members recovered what is believed to be Friedman’s body from inside that vehicle and crews are working to lift the car out of the water at this time.

The body has been turned over to the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office for identification.

The 28-year-old mother was reported missing Monday, Dec. 9 after she did not return home after going to a local bar to watch the Saints game the previous night. She was last seen that night at a gas station / convenience store located near Natal’s bar on Hwy 11.

On Friday, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office began using marine division boats equipped with side-scan sonar devices and the Sheriff’s office helicopter to search Lake Pontchartrain and the waterways near Eden Isles and the Rigolets.
