The Krewe of Freret will host a private coronation lunch in January at Commander’s Palace restaurant.  A public ceremony will be held in the neutral ground of Elysian Fields Avenue at Royal Street, immediately preceding Krewe du Vieux 2014.

Queen Ary Dotiwala was born in Sugar Land, TX, but came to New Orleans to pursue a graduate degree in neuroscience at Tulane University. She ended up falling in love with the city and decided to become more involved in the New Orleans community. She intends to attend medical school, and currently spends much of her time working on prostate cancer research at Tulane. In her spare time, Ary enjoys doing Crossfit, baking pies, and volunteer outreach, especially with the Krewe of Freret’s Community Service & Philanthropy committee.

Born in uptown New Orleans, King Jason Williams attended Tulane University where he earned a full football scholarship before matriculating to Tulane Law School.  Jason is a prominent local attorney and was appointed as the youngest district judge in New Orleans history.  He has worked pro-bono with the Innocence Project, professed at Tulane, is a local TV legal analyst, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Innocence Project of New Orleans, the Board of Directors of the GNO After School Partnership, the Federal Public Defenders Conflict Panel, and the Orleans Parish Public Defenders Conflict Panel.

Darryl “Dancingman504” Young, Grand Marshall Emeritus, is a New Orleans native, born in Charity Hospital and raised in the Ninth Ward. Young teaches 2nd Line Dance & Culture to local and International youth groups and adults, and performs 2nd Line Dance professionally with local bands.  He founded Heal2Toe, as well as BrassXcise, to bring second line education and fun to fitness. He has represented New Orleans in commercials for Jazz Fest, Essence Fest, New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corporation, Orleans Shoring, and in music videos for Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kermit Ruffins, Soul Rebels Brass Band and more.

Previous Krewe of Freret royalty include King Tree (2012), King Daniel Sullivan (2013), Queen Kellie Grengs (2012), and Queen Margaret Moore (2013).

The co-ed Krewe of Freret is currently accepting membership applications for 2014 riding positions.  The diverse group of males, females, young, old, natives, and transplants will ride on Saturday, February 22nd, 2014 on the traditional Uptown route.  They are seeking float lieutenants, riding members, non-riding members, and Defenders of Freret.
