Could a woodpecker really derail a multi-million dollar sale in the North Shore? If that woodpecker happens to be an endangered species, then the answer is yes!

St. Tammany Parish was planning on buying what was once the Southeast Louisiana Hospital in Mandeville, but the property is home to a the endangered Red-cockaded Woodpecker.

Now the parish will have to get permission from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service before doing any work on the property.
