Independence running back Shannon Cage has rushed for 1,016 yards this season. He’s also an honor student carrying a 3.6 grade point average, and head coach Keith Carona tells WGNO Sports that he will play college football: “I think he can sign. I think he can sign Division 1. He’s a 250-pound guy that runs 4.6, 4.7.”

Cage is 250 pounds of dynamite and when he runs into opposing tacklers, they remember.

I asked Cage if people underestimate him because of his size. “Yes, sir,” he replied.

“Does it bother you?” I asked.

SC: “No, sir.”

ED: “You don`t care?”

SC: “No, sir, not at all.”

ED: “And you enjoy running over people?”

SC: “Yes, sir.”

ED: “How much fun is that?”

SC: “Very, a lot of fun. Like winning the lotto.”

ED: “So if you ran over me would you enjoy it?”

SC: “No sir, I wouldn’t like doing it to you.”
