NEW ORLEANS, La. — The U.S. Department of Justice, along with the Drug Enforcement Agency and state and local law enforcement agencies, will offer citizens a chance to get rid of unwanted prescription drugs Saturday, October 26.

The program offers free disposal services for the medications, no questions asked.

During the last effort in April, Americans turned in 371 tons (over 742,000 pounds) of prescription drugs at over 5,800 sites operated by the DEA and its thousands of state andlocal law enforcement partners. In the six previous Take Back events combined, the DEA and its partners took in over 2.8 million pounds – more than 1,400 tons – of pills.
