Latest update from the National Hurricane Center still has Karen with 40 mph winds – barely a tropical storm. Recon flight found a small area of the storm with these winds.

Otherwise, the system continues to weaken as it drifts north. New track actually moves it more east than northeast. All tropical storm warnings and watches have been cancelled, except for a TS Warning from Grand Isle to the mouth of the Pearl River. (Click here to learn the difference between the two.)

This should continue to weaken into a depression by tomorrow morning as the center passes along the coast and over Plaquemines Parish.

The majority of the effects of this system will stay offshore. Most of the rain we will see over the next couple days will actually come with the cold front passing through tomorrow.

The WGNO Weather team will continue to watch this system until it moves out, but just a non-factor for the most part as we’ve been saying.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
