tulane2-altTulane’s hopes for a 3-1 start were dashed quickly at Syracuse.

Quaterback Terrel Hunt, making his first career start, passed for four touchdowns and ran for another as the Orange routed the Green Wave  52-17 Saturday at the Carrier Dome.

Tulane’s special teams were a disaster, again.

The Wave had two punts blocked. And, kicker Cairo Santos had his streak of 26 straight made field goals snapped when his 32 yard try was blocked.

Syracuse jumped out to a 21-3 lead, before Rob Kelley ran 45 yards for a Wave touchdown. Tulane would get no closer.

Quarterback Nick Montana was sacked three times, and his numerous other times. He completed 22 of 38 passes for 182 yards and a touchdown to Justin Shackleford.

Tulane plays at UL-Monroe Saturday.
