lsu-football-logo-277×177Jeremy Hill ran for 184 yards and three touchdowns as 6th ranked LSU beat Auburn 35-21 on a rainy Saturday night at Tiger Stadium.

The win moved LSU to 4-0, 1-0 in the SEC. HIll’s rushing yards were a career high and the most for an LSU back since Alley Broussard ran for 250 yards against Ole Miss in 2004.

Hill’s 54 yard run to the 1, set up a JC Copeland touchdown tun that gave LSU a 21-0 lead.

The Tigers took a 35-14 lead early in the 4th quarter on a 32 yard pass from Zach Mettenberger to Jarvis Landry. But, Mettenberger was decidely subdued after the game.

“We didn’t finish like we wanted,” said Mettenberger.

Auburn cut the lead to 35-21 with 6:33 to play on 12 yard run by Cameron Artis-Payne. In the final two minutes Auburn drove to the LSU 4. But a false start penalty, three incompletes and a quarterback sack snuffed out any Auburn hopes.

LSU travels to Georgia Saturday. LSU beat Georgia in Atlanta in the 2011 SEC championship game.
