Were the Saints struggles Sunday at Tampa Bay, the result of letdown?

“In week 2, you are not thinking about a letdown,” said Saints head coach Sean Payton.

The Saints won 16-14 on a 27 yard field goal from kicker Garrett Hartley on the final play of the game. The Saints were coming off an emotional 23-17 win over Atlanta in the season opener.

The Saints won despite going 0-4 in the red zone. Payton said the Saints have to do a better job of protecting quarterback Drew Brees. “I thought yesterday, even after the pass he took some pretty good shots,” said Payton. “We are always mindful of that.”

The Bucs, 0-2, had 118 yards in penalties, 7 less than they had in passing yards.

Payton would not give injury updates on cornerback Patrick Robinson or defensive lineman Tom Johnson. Both left the game and did not return. Robinson was carted off the field.
