One police officer and two sheriff’s deputies from southeast Louisiana face criminal charges stemming from unrelated cases.

First, NOPD officer Desmond Pratt faces new charges in cases involving the sexual abuse of minors.  Pratt already faced charges from his arrest in April on sexual battery charges.  He joined the NOPD in 1997 and is currently suspended from the force.

Also, and Orleans Parish deputy is suspended without pay after being accused of bringing contraband into the parish jail.  Bryson Baptiste was arrested on malfeasance charges.  But Sheriff Marlin Gusman is not saying what kind of contraband Baptiste brought into the jail.

Finally, a Terrebonne Parish deputy was fired after his arrest.  The sheriff’s office says Martin Meeks responded to a call Tuesday night.  Once at the scene, he’s accused of improperly touching the woman who made the call.  Meeks was booked with sexual battery.
