Memorial services began last night for fallen St. Charles Parish Deputy Jeff Watson.

Visitation was held from 7 to 9pm at the Sheriff’s Office Headquarters.

Hundreds were in attendance as Watson’s casket was carried in for the service.

Watson was killed Sunday in a four vehicle crash that occurred when he was responding to assist another officer.

The 41-year old is being remembered as a dedicated servant who routinely rose above the call of duty.

“He was a good deputy, he was dedicated to serving the public, he was dedicated to his family,” said St. Charles Sheriff Greg Champagne. “He always had a smile on his face.”

“He always would check on my wife and both of my children when we closed,” said business owner Robert Corey. “Anytime he was in the area he would always stop to make sure my family was safe.”

Funeral services are begin at 9 a.m. Friday at L. A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home on Williams Boulevard in Kenner.
