Native New Orleanian and St. Augustine High School grad Arnold Donald will take over as the CEO of Carnival Cruise Lines on July 3rd.

Donald replaces Micky Arison who held the CEO spot since 1979 and is the son of Carnival’s founder, Ted Arison.

Carnival has come under heavy criticism and even lawsuits stemming from a string of bad customer experiences, none more so than the cruise ship Triumph’s voyage that gained fame as the “Cruise From Hell.”

Donald is already very knowledgeable of the company’s operations; he has served on its board for more than a decade.
