Don’t decide the George Zimmerman / Trayvon Martin trial based on race

Here we go again.  Another high stakes trial where, at least among some of the public, race will rule the day over logical, fact based arguments.  The Trayvon Martin-George Zimmerman trial.

If the story itself wasn’t so tragic, the reaction from some blacks and whites would be comical.  A lot of Americans have already decided or have figured out what went down that night in a Florida neighborhood.

The highly enlightened white person knows Zimmerman was justified in the shooting.  He was attacked.  What was he suppossed to do?  While the highly enlightened black person knows that Zimmerman was wrong and attacked this innocent 17-year-old kid because of the color of his skin.

I wish I was that enlightened.  I’d be heading down to Harrah’s tonight or maybe plan on winning Wednesday night’s Powerball.

Fact is, nobody knows what went down that night except for George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin.  And Martin is dead.   That’s where a judge and jury will decide.  Where a trial will take place.

So don’t pick a side already and don’t hope for one verdict or another.  Hoping Zimmerman is innocent or guilty is ridiculous.  Hope for justice and pray for the Martin family.  This is a tragedy.  Let it play out before passing judgement on something you know little to nothing about.  Hoping the guy that has the same skin color as you is innocent is beyond pathetic.
