Barrett’s Barleycorn is the THE LSU Omaha hangout. The LSU banner in the kitchen hangs year-round.

On the Friday before the start of the College World Series the staff is busy because LSU is here.

“Everything from the food to booze,” says John Forbes, “we have to step it up big time. There’s a lot of prep that needs to go into it. It’s non-stop from the time we get here to the time we close at 2 a.m. it’s non-stop.”

Near the bar, a photo of Tiger Stadium hangs proudly. The “Deep South Tigers” hung their banner here a long time ago, and the joint jumps when the Tiger fight song plays.

The owner of the bar is Karen, and the manager of the bar is a guy named Tiger.

Forbes tells WGNO Sports that the bar was packed for last weekend’s Super Regional. It has stayed busy since, and it’s only expected to ramp up even more as the Tigers come to town.
