Tonight many residents of St. James Parish are going to bed uneasy.

Representatives with the Army Corps of Engineers were in Lutcher talking flood protection.  A topic all the more relevant after Hurricane Isaac.

The Army Corps of Engineers showcased three plans.  Plans that have been in the works since the 1970’s.   Alignment A & C would only protect St. John Parish with a structural levee and spot protect parts of St. James Parish.

Alignment D extends the levee to protect St. James as well.

The Army Corps of Engineers must approve one project in July.  Eventually congress will have to approve and fund it.

The projects cost anywhere between $700-Million to $1-Billion.
