Meet  Stasia Cymes, holistic, professional organizer and owner of Clear the Clutter.

Even though Stasia spends her time helping others get clean and organized, she still has some areas around her own home that need some love… So she invited me in to do some housework. We tackled a problem area in many homes: underneath the kitchen sink. Here are some “tried and true” tips that will help you tackle a problem area in your home. Whether the space is small or large, following these basic steps will help bring you piece of mind when clearing the clutter for Spring!

  1. Declutter- remove any garbage, broken, unnecessary items from the space.
  2. Downsize- consolidate wherever possible to free up space.
  3. Disperse- make sure items are in the correct room.
  4. Donate- Put unused items in a bag to be dropped off at your local Goodwill, Recycling facility etc.

Stasia also offers tips for getting started. “The hardest part is the first step,” she says. Schedule time to clean. If you set aside the time you will be less likely to forgo cleaning opportunities. Start small. In most cases, the mess was not created in a single hour so you shouldn’t assume it will disappear in an hour either. Be realistic. You may not be able to clear out the garage in one day but if you start with smaller chunks like a particular shelf or drawer, over time, the entire space will improve.

If you have a larger project and need professional help, Stasia offers free consultations. For more information on Clear the Clutter, visit the website www.clearthecluttertoday.com
