After police found a man, dead, inside a shopping cart in the 2200 block of Marais Street, neighbors are getting to work to try to prevent similar cases from happening again.

The man’s body was found in the overgrown field of an abandoned house.

After the discovery, neighbors cut down the high grass themselves, hoping to make the area less appealing for any sort of criminal activity.

Police made one arrest in the man’s death.  They say a woman named Valerie Johnson and another man pushed the body to the scene in the grocery cart.  According to police, Johnson is on probation for drug charges and the victim may have overdosed inside her home, so she pushed him to the property around the corner from where she lives.
