BREAKING NEWS: Schools on Lockdown in Jefferson Parish

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is reporting Fisher High School in Lafitte & Marrero Academy both received disturbing threats on their answer machines this morning.

Around 6:36 AM, the JPSO 911 Center received a call from faculty at Fisher High School in Lafitte advising a male caller phoned, threatened to burn down the school and harm the children.

Shortly thereafter, at 7:20 AM, the JPSO 911 Center received a call from the facility at Marrero Academy in Marrero advising a male caller phoned advising there would be a big problem at the school today, children would be harmed and he was going to burn down the school.

As a result of these threats both schools are presently on lock-down and JPSO essential personal are on-scene.  Additional notifications have been made to assisting Jefferson Parish agencies.  At this time, JPSO has no further information about the person who made the threats.
