Hornets blow late lead, fall to Mavericks

hornets logoThe Hornets stole victory from the jaws of defeat Friday night.

Mike James and Vince Carter hit three pointers in the final minute as the Mavericks beat the Hornets 104-100.

The Hornets took a 100-96 lead on a three pointer by Ryan Anderson with 55 seconds to play. But, Dallas rallied quickly. Mike James hit a three out of the right corner with 42.8 seconds left to pull Dallas within one.

With 6.7 seconds to play, Vince Carter hit a three to give Dallas the lead.

With 5.8 seconds remaining, Eric Gordon turned the ball over. Former Hornet Darren Collison was then fouled and made two free throws.

Gordon led the Hornets with 23 points. Jason Smith scored 22 points off the bench.

Dirk Nowitzki led Dallas with 25 points.

The Hornets, 19-37, host Sacramento Sunday at 5 pm at New Orleans Arena.
