Jefferson Parish deputies arrested a suspect accused of killing a 3-year-old boy in Marrero.

They found 34-year-old Timothy Reed at a motel in New Orleans East.

The sheriff’s office identified him as a suspect after interviewing the boy’s mother.

Lakeisha Brown says the last time she saw her son Desmond alive was when she let him go with Reed to watch Mardi Gras parades, according to deputies.

She found him dead inside her home on Rue Racine.

Reed is accused of trying to burn down the home with the Brown and her son inside.

Deputies who responded to the home said it reeked of gasoline.

Reed has an arrest record that includes murder, rape, domestic violence and child abuse charges.
