Wednesday morning the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office announced charges in the triple murder of a mother and her two children in Lockport.

Deputies say David Brown sexually assaulted two of the victims before stabbing  Jacquelin Nieves, her 7-year-old daughter Gabriela and her 20-month old daughter Izabela.

Brown then set the apartment on fire, deputies say.

Brown was already in jail for another crime that happened on the same day as the killing November 4, 2012.

The sheriff’s office says Jacquelin’s husband who is also the father of the children was asleep downstairs while the crimes were being committed upstairs.

Deputies say he called 911 when he woke up.
