Rookie guard Austin Rivers scored 8 points in 23 minutes as the Hornets beat the Celtics Wednesday night in Boston, 90-78.

The Celtics are coached by Rivers’ father, Doc Rivers.

“I didn’t enjoy it,” said Doc of being on the side opposite his son.

Rivers was given additional minutes when guard Eric Gordon was scratched with a sore knee. Gordon has yet to play in back to back games since his return to the team in late December.

The Hornets won at Philadelphia Tuesday night.

The Hornets went on an 11-0 run in the second quarter to take a 38-32 lead. They never looked back.

New Orleans outrebounded Boston 48-33. The Hornets won their 13th game of the season despite making only 2 of 17 three point attempts.

Al-Farouq Aminu led the Hornets with 18 points. Robin Lopez scored 17.

The Hornets won 2 of 3 games on an east coast trip that began with a loss to the Knicks Sunday.
