The owner of Parasol’s John Hogan always welcomed WGNO into his restaurant and bar with open arms.

Well known in the Irish Channel, John passed away on Christmas Eve.

In this week’s Wingin’ It, Tyler wing pays tribute to John Hogan who always put on a warm, friendly smile for our cameras.

The day John Hogan arrived to the Irish channel is the day neighbors become family.

When the Florida native bought Parasol’s three years ago, he embraced the rich Irish heritage and traditions entrenched in the history.

What happened at Parasol’s during Hurricane Isaac is now a legendary “luck of the Irish story.”

It’s been told a higher power was at work during the storm,  as a service to John Hogan for relentlessly helping others.

Family says Hogan passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Christmas Eve the day after turning 56 years old.
