NOPD: Captured Man Confesses To Hitting NOPD Officer With His Car

New Orleans police say they’ve arrested a man who is accused of trying to run down an officer with his car.

Police say Crimestoppers tips led them to 30-year-old Justin Henry at his girlfriend’s home in the 5500 block of Rickert Drive in New Orleans East Tuesday morning.

They say Henry tried briefly to leave the home and get away but was captured without incident following a brief chase.

Henry is accused of trying to run down NOPD officer Karla Baker early Sunday morning in the 3900 block of Downman Road.  According to police, Baker pulled over Henry for a traffic stop, but Henry locked himself inside the car and refused to follow Baker’s commands.

Police say Henry eventually hit the gas and spend away, striking Baker with his car.  According to police, Henry’s car was a blue Chevy Impala with a black right, front quarter panel.

Baker was treated and released at an area hospital with moderate injuries.

Police say the found Henry’s car outside his girlfriend’s home and he confessed to trying to rundown the officer.

Henry is booked with Attempted Murder of a Police Officer, Resisting an Officer and Criminal Damage to Property.
