With one month more of statistics to collect and streets to protect, Jefferson Parish is on track to see a reduction in most major crime categories in 2012.

Through November of this year, murder, robbery, assault, burglary, theft, and auto theft were all down for the year.

Rape cases remained unchanged with 61 in all of 2011 and through November of 2012 as well.

The biggest decline currently is murder with a decrease of about 30% from 2011.

Auto theft, burglary, and robbery are all currently down by similar margins of about 13%, 12%, and 11% respectively.

Again, the numbers for 2012 still have one more month before yearly totals can be calculated.
