The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Department says one of its deputies stopped an armed robbery in progress.  It happened Thursday morning in the 1400 block of North Claiborne Avenue.

According to the sheriff’s office, the deputy was investigating another case when he saw Isaac Hill robbing a man in the street.  The department says Hill shot the man twice in the stomach before seeing the deputy, dropping the gun and trying to run.

After a short chase, Hill was arrested.

At last word, the robbery victim was in an area hospital in critical condition.
