Last month, voters approved an extension of tolls on the Crescent City Connection.  Now, the Louisiana Department of Transportation announced the state would be able to go after some out of state drivers if they don’t pay.

The DOTD announced Monday that it is now able to process citations for Mississippi drivers who fail to pay the toll at the Crescent City Connection as well as the the LA 1 Bridge at Leeville.

“We have been working towards this with the Mississippi Department of Revenue since the summer,” said Rhett Desselle, DOTD Assistant Secretary, in a written statement.  “It was truly a team effort and being able to pursue drivers from Mississippi, who violate the toll, will greatly enhance our collection rate.”

The state says the first batch of violation notices for Mississippi licenses hit the mail on Friday.
