Tonight Lisa North Hill is inconsolable. Her daughter, 6-year-old Ahlittia North will not be coming home.
“She had two very aggressive stab wounds to the neck which were probably her fatal wounds. She also had two stab wounds to her abdomen,” says Jefferson Parish Coroner Gerry Cvitanovich.
Detectives found the child wrapped in her comforter, inside a trash bag, in a garbage can just footsteps from her Harvey home.
Tonight they’re looking for 20-year-old Matthew Flugence who say is wanted for the first-degree murder of North.
“Matthew Fluence was in and around those crime scenes multiple times Friday, Saturday and Sunday,” says Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand.
Flugence had babysat Ahlittia and is the nephew of the 6-year-old’s stepfather. Deputies say he’s also wanted for a sexual battery involving an 11-year-old. His last known address was a few doors down from Ahlittia.
“A big surprise; if I would have known that he’d a never been by my family,” says North’s stepfather Albert Hill.
Authorities say on Saturday, shortly after Ahlittia was reported missing from he home on the 2900 block of Destrehan Avenue, investigators found a pool of blood behind an apartment a few buildings away. After no leads they expanded the search, but returned to ground zero late last night once DNA results came back revealing that blood belonged to Ahlittia.
Investigators believe her body was dumped sometime between 7pm Sunday and last night.
They have arrested Russell Flugence, Matthew Flugence’s brother, for obstruction of justice. They believe he knew his brother may be linked to her disappearance.
Matthew Flugence is considered dangerous. If you see him call Crimestoppers at 504.822.111. They have upped their reward for information leading to an arrest to $6,500.
