Matthew Flugence, the man accused of killing 6-year-old Ahlittia North, says the child seduced him, unbuttoned his pants, and wanted to have sex with him.

Flugence has admitted to killing Ahlittia.

A judge ruled Wednesday that Flugence will be held without bond for first degree murder.

An apartment building in Harvey near where 6-year-old Ahlittia North’s body was found is no more. Crews tore down one of the blighted buildings in the neighborhood Friday afternoon.

The Jefferson Parish Council approved the demolition on the Woodmere apartment complex at 2636 Destrehan Avenue. Deputies found Ahlittia’s body just steps away at 2836 Destrehan.

Matthew Flugence confessed to murdering Ahlittia. Flugence is her step-father’s nephew, who sometimes looked after the child.

The Harvey apartment building where the body of 6-year-old Ahlitia North was found will be demolished. Jefferson Parish approved a plan for the emergency demolition.

The complex has been cited seven times for code violations and has nearly half a million dollars in liens filed against it.

The property’s owner has a 48-hour appeal period for the demolition.

Heavy hearts filled the Christian Assembly Church in Gonzales this morning for the funeral of six-year old Ahlittia North.

The little girl was brutally murdered in Harvey last weekend.

Mary McMahon was among the speakers. She’s the principal where Ahlittia went to school.

There’s a change to the funeral arrangements for a 6-year-old girl who was brutally murdered in Harvey last weekend.

The family of Ahlittia North says Monday’s funeral has been moved to Gonzales.

Services are scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m. at the Christian Assembly Church off of Highway 941.  Visitation starts at 9:00 a.m.

Ahlittia will be buried at the First Baptist Church Cemetery in Donaldsonville.

Prayer Service Held for Murdered 6 Year Old’s Family

With heavy hearts the family of 6-year-old Ahlittia North walks into the Regular Baptist Church.

 Men, women and children have come together to pray for this grieving family.

 Ahlittia’s life was brutally cut short. The 6-year-old’s mangled was body dumped in a garbage can covered with stab wounds and bruises.

 “A young lady like that hadn’t even started life yet,” says parishioner Alfred Cager.

 “It’s pitiful, a 6-year-old child like that. My heart goes out to her mother,” says

 It’s understandably too much for her mother to handle. She tells us she can’t return to her apartment. All the memories are just too painful. Lisa North Hill plans to move.

 She says although her daughter’s accused killer is family 20-year-old Matthew Flugence should get the death penalty, a sentence many here agree sounds just.

 “Yes i believe he deserves the death penalty,” says parishioner Keiana Smith says, “people like that, they don’t deserve to walk the streets.”

 “Thats up to the justice because i cant make that decision but God will take care of him,” says Alfred Cager.

 Flugence faces first degree murder charges which means he could face the death penalty.

 Ahlittia North’s funeral is set for Monday at 11am in Donaldsonville at the First Baptist Church.

Community Still Mourning the Death of Ahlittia North

“I’m just glad they found him so he won’t do it to someone else,” says neighbor Joanna Jones.

“If they put men behind bars behind animals, this wasn’t an animal, this was a 6-year-old human being, a child. He needs to be locked up for the rest of his life,” says neighbor Roshakka Hanson.

Hours after investigators say Matthew Flugence admitted to stabbing 6-year-old Ahlittia North to death neighbors remain horrified.

“Every time I pass I just got to stop. It brings tears to my eyes,” says neighbor Shena Williams.

Tonight a makeshift memorial for the girl continues to grow.

Ahlittia’s mother says she can’t return home. The 6-year-old was found stabbed to death in a garbage can Tuesday morning footsteps from her door.

This morning Matthew Flugence told investigators he was still armed with the knife he used to kill Ahlittia Saturday morning. He’s behind bars tonight held without bail.

Gregory Brown says he’s sure his surveillance cameras helped bring justice. “They came to my house and they used my surveillance tapes. I was helping them any way I could because user through the whole block and I gave them something to catch him with,  so I’m glad, just glad he’s gone.”

Neighbors say Matthew Flugence lived in the area with.his mother. They say the family moved out three weeks ago. He’s the nephew of Ahlittia’s stepfather who denies knowing about the mans criminal past.

It’s not the summer Ahlittia’s family had planned. She lived with her cousin in Donaldsonville and spent summers with her mom. She had just arrived in Harvey in May.

When detectives asked Matthew Flugence’s brother, Russell, about his brother’s involvement, his response was “I don’t give a f*** about that little girl”

When deputies asked Matthew Flugence if he killed Ahlittia North, he replied, “And I f***ed your mother too”

This investigation continues, so many details will not be released right now

The man accused of staMATTHEW_FLUGENCEbbing six-year-old Ahlittia North is in custody.

According To Sheriff Newell Normand, 20-year-old Matthew Flugence was apprehended at 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Deputies found Flugence walking in the 800 block of Victory Drive, along the Westbank Expressway in Westwego.

During the arrest, Normand says Flugence was carrying a knife. He was taken to the Criminal Investigations Bureau for questioning.

Normand says he will be booked and charged with first-degree murder and with sexual battery for an outstanding warrant.
