The New Orleans Police Department’s Fatality Unit is investigating a hit-and-run car incident that left a 2-year-old and his 29-year-old aunt dead in New Orleans East.  The incident occurred at approximately 1:10 a.m. Sunday on the I-10 Westbound at the High-rise.

Police say 2-year-old Kaedan Boyd died of his injuries hours after the accident on Sunday. His aunt, Danielle Rhone, died on the scene.

Police say their car stalled while traveling Westbound on I-10. Rhone and Boyd exited the vehicle, along with a third person who has not been named.  The driver of a black Chevy Tahoe was struck in the back by the driver of a Ford ruck during the incident.  At some time during the incident, the woman and the baby where struck by one of the cars that remained on the scene or by a vehicle that fled the scene and were thrown over the rail falling to the ground.

The 3 vehicles remained on the scene however the driver of the Ford truck fled the scene.  Detectives believe other vehicles were involved in the incident but fled the scene.  Detectives are looking for one of those vehicles that fled the scene, a white Chevy Suburban unknown license plate with damage to the passenger’s side of the vehicle.
