Bio

JARED WEB PICI’m Jared and I’ve come to New Orleans from across the state.  Moving up to a market size of 53 here at WGNO is a big step up from KPLC, market 176, in Lake Charles, LA, but I’m enjoying all the new sights and opportunities.  Going from a commercial producer position in Lake Charles to a promotions producer here in New Orleans is definitely a challenge and a change of pace, workflow, and responsibilities.  However, I’m definitely glad that I made the move; I’ve learned a lot and gotten my hands on great new equipment.

When friends come to visit New Orleans, the first place I take them is?  Gotta be the French Market/Quarter area with a stop at Café du Monde.

On Friday/Saturday nights you’ll find me?  Probably at the movies. I like to catch the latest movie.

I’m known around the newsroom for?   Always riding my motorcycle to work.  When I pass through the newsroom, I’m usually carrying my helmet and have my gear on in the mornings and at the end of the day.

My greatest TV moment was?   Always showing up in the background of local commercials when working in Lake Charles.

A TV moment I’d like to forget is?   Reality Television. All of it.

The most important lesson I’ve learned through my work as a journalist is?   Planning.  Heading out on a shoot, there’s nothing worse than getting to your location and realizing you forgot some sort of equipment.

I give back to my community by?   Giving to charities when I can and trying to shop locally.

If I had the time I’d like to?  Take a hiking trip to Japan or to Alaska to see the Aurora Borealis.

My favorite Saint/Hornet (past or present) is?   Only sport I really care about is hockey..  Go Dallas Stars!

A best date would go like this?   Anything that begins in food, includes a movie, and ends with her saying she’d love to do this again sometime.
