Award-winning News Anchor and Reporter Vanessa Bolano joined the WGNO News Team in 2009. In her five-plus years in New Orleans, Vanessa has covered public corruption, the BP Gulf Oil Spill, Hurricane Isaac, and Super Bowl XLIV & XLVII.

Vanessa has been recognized by the Press Club of New Orleans for her fun feature reports and for continuing coverage of an elementary school student who was handcuffed at school. The reports eventually led to security changes within the New Orleans Recovery School District.

Prior to WGNO, Vanessa worked as a reporter and fill-in anchor at KTEN, the NBC affiliate in North Texas. She began her career in her hometown, Miami, working three jobs: associate producer at WFOR, host of an environmental program for “City of Miami TV,” and co-host of a sports podcast.

Vanessa was born and raised in Miami. She is Cuban-American and speaks fluent Spanish. She earned a Bachelor's Degree from Boston College, and a Master’s Degree from the University of Miami.
