    Firefighters battle blaze in Central City

    NEW ORLEANS, La (WGNO) — Officials say a 2-alarm fire in Central City is now under control. The fire broke out just before 5:30 this morning at Martin Luther King Boulevard and South Liberty Street. Officials say it quickly spread through the one-story home and became a 2-alarm fire in just minutes. Firefighters were able to get it under control around 6:20. No injuries were reported. No word yet on what caused the fire.

    No school for East Jefferson High students

    METAIRIE, La (WGNO) — Students of East Jefferson High School will not have class today and tomorrow (November 9th and 10th). Officials say the school is closed due to electrical issues. Students and staff should not report to school. Classes are expected to resume Wednesday.

    Ponchatoula (WGNO) — Police have arrested a suspect who led officers on a high-speed chase to Ponchatoula this morning. Police say the car chase ended near S. 1st  St. and E.     Police investigate murder in Kenner

    KENNER, La (WGNO) — Police are investigating a deadly shooting in Kenner. It happened around 11:00 last night in the 900 block of 27th St. Officers say they found 42 year old Cornel Woods shot outside his home. He was taken to Ochsner Kenner where he was pronounced dead.     New Orleans (WGNO) — The NOPD is investigating an armed robbery at an Uptown bar. Police say three masked men walked into the Monkey Hill Bar on Magazine St. around 10:00 last night. They say one jumped over the counter and demanded money from the register while the other two ordered customers to put their wallets on the counter and get on the floor.     Boil advisory lifted for East Bank of New Orleans

    NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The boil advisory has been lifted for the East Bank of Orleans Parish. Officials with the Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans say customers should flush out their pipes by running water through their system. The advisory was ordered on Wednesday after a power outage caused pressure to drop in the system. The state Department of Health and Hospitals ran tests to confirm the water is safe to use.

    The State Fire Marshal says no one was hurt in a fire that damaged Saint John Elementary School on Ory Street Friday. At this time, the fire is not considered suspicious, but it's still very early in the investigation and they still haven't been able to go inside and look around.
