Jazz legend Jon Hendricks dies at 96

NEW YORK -- A jazz music legend died Wednesday night.

Vocalist Jon Hendricks passed away in Manhattan. He was 96 years old.

Born in Ohio, he was known as one of the great improvisers and a pioneer for jazz expression.

He paved the way for George Benson and Al Jarreau, among others.
