NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Legendary Uptown music venue Tipitina’s is rallying behind an employee who was shot nine times earlier this week.

In a Facebook post, Tipitina’s general manager Nancy Romano said Lisa Dours, who Romano referred to as “one of our own,” was shot in her home.

“This is so sad,” Romano wrote. “Lisa will have a long and hard road ahead to recovery. Please send healing thoughts and positive vibes to our friend.”

Mary Horn, another Tipitina’s employee, started a GoFundMe online fundraising effort in Dours’ name to help pay for medical bills.

The goal of that effort is to raise $20,000.

“Although I have not known her [Dours] long, I know her heart is as big as her house,” Horn wrote on the GoFundMe page. “She is fighting for her life and has her family and friends hoping she recovers completely.”

The NOPD released an initial report on the shooting the morning of Thursday, December 15. The shooting took place in the 3100 block of Belfort Avenue around 7 p.m. on December 14.

The investigation is still underway, the NOPD reported at the time.

“She [Dours] was one of the four shootings that happened within eight hours in our city last night,” Romano wrote on Facebook. “Please donate if you can, no donation is too small, every dollar will help.”
