NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand will hold a press conference this morning on the ongoing investigation into the Joe McKnight shooting, and you can watch it live on WGNO.com.

Normand will speak from the JPSO crime lab at 10 a.m. and is expected to deliver updates into McKnight’s shooting and the investigation into Ronald Gasser, who has yet to face charges in the case despite surrendering himself to responding officers and admitting to the shooting.

At the first press conference about the high-profile case on December 2, Normand scolded the public for believing accounts that he said were not true, stating that “external influences” will not play a part in the investigation.

Normand declined to answer questions about Gasser’s criminal record at that press conference, although it has since come out that Gasser was arrested after a road rage incident in 2006 near the intersection where would go on to shoot McKnight.
