Louisiana’s LGBT rights dispute is full steam ahead
BATON ROUGE (WGNO) – Tuesday is all about Governor John Bel Edwards versus Attorney General Jeff Landry when it comes to LGBT rights according to an article posted on WBRZ’s website.
Gov. Edwards insists on enforcing the anti-discrimination order, which, if approved, will prohibit discrimination in government and state contracts based on sexual orientation and gender identity, with an exception for contractors that are religious organizations.
Attorney General Landry meantime, says the order is unconstitutional as it seeks to establish a new protected class of people that doesn’t exist in law and that lawmakers refused to add. Landry wants an injunction against the order.
Ultimately, a Baton Rouge judge will will hear the arguments and rule on the decision Tuesday.
