NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – New Orleans Saints linebacker Michael Mauti will miss the rest of the season.

Saints coach Sean Payton announced today that Mauti will have to have a procedure done soon that will take him out of contention.

Mauti elaborated on the situation, saying that he has been suffering from ulcerative colitis for some time, and the upcoming procedure is related to his treatment for the condition, which can cause inflammatory ulcers in the digestive tract.

Adding a touch of humor to the situation, Mauti joked that he is angling for an advertising deal with Charmin toilet paper.
