Last season, St Charles Catholic and Riverside played twice, once in the regular season, and another in the playoffs.
For the Comets, neither game brought the desired result. Riverside won 35-3, and 35-14 in the playoffs.
The two teams meet again Friday night at 7 at Mickey Roussel Field in Reserve. Comets head coach Frank Monica said his team must get off to a good start against what he calls a talented and well coached club.
St Charles, 6-1, has won 4 in a row after a 14-10 loss at Vandebilt Catholic in week 3. Riverside has won 5 straight after a 16-13 loss to John Ehret on September 2nd.
St Charles Catholic quarterback Lloyd Nash was named the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation quarterback club and Best Chevrolet Friday Night Football player of the week.
He rushed 24 times for 330 yards and two touchdowns in a 38-19 win at Newman. Nash also completed all three of his throws for 30 yards, returned kickoffs, and played defensive back.
"He's our leader," said Monica.
Riverside gets to see him in person Friday night.
