THIBODAUX, La. (WGNO) - If you don't have a trained duck lying around to help you attract those other ducks for hunting, then Andrew Tom Beary will get the job done using handmade duck decoys.

Starting with only a block of wood, Tom knows exactly what to do when it comes to outlining and cutting the wood block to make the body.

Since there are so many different species of ducks, Tom knows how to make a majority of them. Everything from the head to the body, and even the colors matter.

Tom has been carving wooden ducks for 60 years. He's not your typical type of duck decoy carver. He uses special techniques. He carves a neck shelf that's raised on the body to accept the head. This technique secures the head tightly with no seam.
