AVONDALE, La. (WGNO) - Delgado Community College will start construction soon on a $27 million campus that will be tailored to meet the needs of the region's workforce.

The new River City Campus and the Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence will be located in the Churchill Technology and Business Park. The Jefferson Parish Economic Development Commission celebrated the announcement with state, regional, and local leaders Thursday.

The River City Campus, a 10.5-acre facility, is designed to accommodate training programs to support commerce along the Mississippi River, including transportation/logistics, marine engine, engineering, and automotive technology on the growing West Bank of Jefferson Parish.

The Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence, which will be housed within the River City Campus, will focus on creating a sustainable, skilled workforce to support the industries investing in the region. Courses will focus on skills such as welding, precision machining, electrical/electronics engineering technology, electronics service technology, and industrial maintenance.

The River City Campus is the newest addition to the Churchill Technology and Business Park, a growing asset in the Fairfield area.
