HOUSTON, TX– Nine people were injured in a shooting in southwest Houston on Monday morning, Acting Police Chief Martha Montalvo told reporters.

Officers say the gunman seemed to be firing randomly at people in cars in a shopping center parking lot.

Of those injured, three people were treated and released and six are hospitalized.

One person is in critical condition and one person is in serious condition, Montalvo said.

As for the suspected gunman, he was shot and killed on scene by police.

The shooting comes days after a shooting at a Washington state mall that left five people dead.
