Tulsa police officer charged with manslaughter

TULSA, Okla. (WGNO) – Tulsa police officer Betty Shelby has been charged with manslaughter in the first degree, Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler told reporters Thursday.

Officer Betty Shelby is now on paid administrative leave, pending the outcome of criminal investigation in the shooting and killing of Terence Crutcher, 40, on Friday, September 16, 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Shelby fatally shot 40-year-old Terence Crutcher after his SUV broke down last week. Crutcher, 40, was unarmed and waiting for help on the road.
