NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – During the 12 days of Mardi Gras there are 34 krewes parading and partying in Orleans Parish, and to pull it off requires the a tremendous effort of the NOPD, NOFD and EMS to make sure everything runs smoothly and, most important, safely.

The Mardi Gras community is looking to give back to the NOPD, NOFD and EMS tonight with a special fundraiser at Fulton’s Alley in the CBD.

The goal of the Krewes of Karnival is to raise $80,000, which will go toward purchasing gear for the three organizations: outer carry bullet proof vests for the NOPD, turnout gear for the NOFD and level 3 ballistic vests, helmets and Kevlar for EMS.

They hope to achieve this with your support and also provide you with a memorable and entertaining evening that includes beer, wine, live music, auctions and bowling.

The event is from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Fulton Alley located at 600 Fulton Street in downtown New Orleans.

Entry is $50 per person at the door. If you are a first responder and arrive in uniform, there is no entry fee.
