METAIRIE, La. (WGNO) – If you're wanting to learn about Chinese culture, this is the week to do it.
The New Orleans Chinese Association is hosting its first New Orleans Chinese Culture Festival at Lakeside Mall this week.
Organizers say the festival will include photo exhibits, children’s activities, food tastings, Chinese ceremony, crafts shows, musical performances and more.
The Academy of Chinese Studies and Confucius Institute at Xavier University will also join as co-sponsors.
The Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Houston will be providing assistance with the supplies of the festival’s decoration and exhibitions.
The Chinese Association aims to build closer ties between the Chinese community and other communities in the New Orleans area. They say they hope the festival will help increase communication and strengthen relationships.
