OPSO employee arrested, on leave without pay after domestic dispute
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – An Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy is suspended without pay after allegedly shooting through the wall of his home during a domestic dispute overnight.
According to the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office, NOPD responded to the home of Eugene Gipson about 1 a.m.
Gipson’s wife told police her husband fired a gun through the wall.
Gipson, who was assigned to the civil division at the sheriff’s office, was booked on charges of illegal use of a weapon and simple criminal damage to property.
OPSO said the case will be reviewed by the sheriff’s office and sent to the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office.
Gipson’s bond was set at $15,000. He also had to surrender his duty weapon.
