Celebrate National Dog Day!

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)-  August 26 is a day set aside to spoil your furry friend!

National Dog Day is not just about celebrating our pooches though.

It was established in 2004 and serves as a reminder for all the dogs that need to be rescued and need forever homes.

The Louisiana SPCA has had its hands full since floods ravaged South Louisiana.

On National Dog Day they will be out and about delivering pet food and supplies to the following areas:

  • City Hall, 62438 Commercial St., Roseland
  • Amite City Office Complex, 721 S. First Street, Amite, LA
  • St Helena Health Unit, 53 North 2nd Street, Greensburg, LA
  • 42271 South Morris Blvd., Hammond, LA
  • Hammond Red Cross Shelter, 601 West Coleman Ave., Hammond, LA

They also want to invite you to grab your friends and come out to the NOLA PokeCrawl 2016 benefiting the animals of the Louisiana SPCA  on Saturday, August 27.
