NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - Hundreds of motorcycles escorted a replica of the Vietnam Wall across New Orleans today.
Names engraved into the wall are those of soldiers who died in Vietnam between 1957 and 1975.
The wall is an 80 percent scale version of the Vietnam Wall in Washington, D.C. Across its 360-foot length, the wall contains every single name etched on the original. At its apex, the memorial is an impressive eight feet tall.
The replica wall is now at City Park, where a wreath laying and commemoration ceremony will be held Saturday morning. You can see it there from 2 p.m. Thursday until Sunday, Aug. 28, when it will be disassembled and taken to the next city.
