Trump, Pence headed to Baton Rouge
Donald Trump and his running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, will travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Friday to tour flood damage, according to CNN.
Historic flooding has claimed the lives of 13 people in five parishes.
So far, 20 parishes have been declared federal disaster areas, and roughly 40,000 homes were flooded.
Seventy-five percent of homes in Livingston Parish flooded.
As of Wednesday night, more than 8,000 people remained in Red Cross shelters.
Days after the heavy rainfall, backwater flooding is pushing water into areas that didn’t flood during the storm. St. James and Ascension parishes are being hit with backwater flooding, as are parishes in Southwest Louisiana.
